Amos Alonzo Stagg was first Athletic Director and football coach for the University of Chicago from 1892-1933 and football coach for the College of the Pacific from 1933-1946. He was a national figure, leader and innovator in the development of intercollegiate sports, football, the Olympics and amateur athletics.
